Additionally, the forward collision braking system has reportedly engaged unexpectedly, creating potential safety hazards. Other symptoms described include intermittent charging failures, infotainment screen malfunctions, and issues with the air conditioning and rear hatch operation. These issues often appear shortly after purchase, and some owners have experienced prolonged service visits without resolution.
VISIBILITY/WIPER (9 complaints)
VISIBILITY/WIPER
9 complaintsOwners report significant visibility issues with the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, primarily due to glare on the windshield caused by reflections from glossy dashboard components. This glare is frequently described as impairing the driver's ability to see pedestrians and road obstructions, particularly when driving toward the sun. Additionally, multiple complaints mention intermittent failures of the windshield wipers, with wipers not activating during rain, which can lead to dangerous driving conditions. These visibility and wiper issues have safety implications, with reports of 20 injuries and suggestions of hard braking events linked to impaired visibility. Symptoms include sudden braking at various speeds without warning lights and independent activation of the rear parking brake, sometimes resulting in injuries. The reported problems occur at mileages around 28,989 to 34,865, with some vehicles remaining at dealerships due to failed recall inspections. Safety implications are significant, with two injuries reported from abrupt stops and unintended brake activation. Buyers should be aware of these issues, especially given the ongoing recall and lack of available repair parts.
POWER TRAIN (6 complaints)
POWER TRAIN
6 complaintsOwners report several power train issues with the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, particularly concerning the transmission and one-pedal driving functionality. Complaints frequently mention transmission noise, rough shifting, hesitation, and complete transmission failure, with some issues appearing as early as 6 to 1150 miles. Additionally, one-pedal driving in reverse does not function as described in the owner's manual, leading to unexpected vehicle lurching. Safety implications include potential risks to pedestrians due to the unexpected reverse movement. Parts for repairs are often on back order, causing delays in resolution.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING (3 complaints)
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
3 complaintsOwners report issues with the turn signal and rear tail light of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. Complaints frequently mention that the blinker arm bounces back to the opposite direction after automatically canceling, causing the unintended activation of the opposite signal. Additionally, there are reports of difficulty engaging the right turn signal. Another issue involves the right rear tail light, which fails to illuminate with the headlamps or when braking, and flashes rapidly when the signal is activated. This problem is accompanied by a dashboard warning message about the "Right Rear lamp failure," and owners note that dealers are aware but unable to fix it due to manufacturer guidance. These lighting issues could pose a safety risk, as the lack of proper signaling and brake light function may confuse other drivers.
AIR BAGS (3 complaints)
AIR BAGS
3 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners report issues with the airbag system in the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, with complaints frequently mentioning airbags not deflating immediately after deployment and unintended deployment at low speeds. Two incidents involve crashes; one incident resulted in three injuries when airbags did not deflate promptly, and another crash with one injury was linked to a parking brake system recall. Additionally, a complaint describes curtain airbags deploying over a speed bump, causing the vehicle to shut off and become inoperable. These issues highlight potential safety implications, including crashes and unexpected vehicle shutdowns, which are of particular concern for buyers evaluating the safety and reliability of this model.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
