2025 Ford Mustang Recall Details
3 recalls have been issued for the 2025 Ford Mustang. All recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealerships.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mustang, and Mustang GTD vehicles. Water may enter the body control module and cause a loss of communication with the exterior lighting, including the license plate light, side marker, and tail lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence
License plate, side marker, and tail lights that fail to illuminate as intended can reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and seal the body seams as necessary. Dealers will also inspect the body control module for corrosion and replace it, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 10, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C43.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang Mach E, and Mustang vehicles. The LED Driver Modules may contain a burnt diode, which can cause the low-beam and high-beam headlights, daytime running lights, front position lights, and front turn signals to fail in the affected headlight. On Nautilus vehicles only, this condition may also cause the rear tail light, rear turn signal, and rear position light to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence
Exterior lighting failure can reduce visibility for the driver and other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the LED Driver Modules, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C39.
POWER TRAIN
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150, Bronco, 2024 Ranger, 2025 Mustang, Explorer, and Aviator vehicles. The transmission valve body may have been machined incorrectly, which can cause reverse gear failure, or unexpected forward movement in reverse or neutral gear.
Consequence
Unexpected vehicle movement increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the transmission main control valve body, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S19.

2025 Ford Mustang Common Problems by Component
8 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
2 complaintsOwners of the 2025 Ford Mustang report incidents involving the spontaneous shattering of rear windows. Complaints frequently mention that the rear window shatters without warning, either while driving or when closing the door, with glass fragments posing potential injury risks to occupants. These incidents occur without any prior signs or external impacts, according to owner descriptions. Safety implications are noted, as flying glass could distract the driver or injure passengers, with one owner reporting minor injuries from glass fragments. No specific mileage or timeline patterns emerge from the complaints, making it challenging to predict when this issue might occur.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1 complaintThe Main screen in the car completely went black all of the sudden with no prior warnings or signs to show cause of the outage. The duration of time was over 5 minutes and it was only the center screen not the screen behind the steering wheel it stayed on.The car mostly runs off of the center touch screen with all the braking, lane keeping, powered windows, airbags, gps etc to not have any control over any functions due to the screen outage is a big concern. It has not happened again but just this one time. I also have noticed if I put the vehicle in lane keeping control it starts to leak fluid on my feet inside the vehicle.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
1 complaintI was driving around 35mph, when I switched the DRIVE MODE to CUSTOM, the car went into neutral, and started to coast for a few hundred yards. I then switched it back to the standard drive mode, and it went back into gear. I proceeded on without further incident.
VISIBILITY (1 complaints)
VISIBILITY
1 complaintThe contact leased a 2025 Ford Mustang from Avis Car Rental. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on a cliffside highway around a curve, the rear passenger’s side window unexpectedly lowered and slammed down, causing a loud noise and allowing wind to enter the vehicle. The contact thought something had crashed into the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicl,e but found that there was no impact to the vehicle. Avis Car Rental was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V546000 (Exterior Lighting). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
