Consequence

A noncompliant emergency exit can increase the risk of ejection and injury during a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the window, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Braun's customer service at 1-800-488-0359.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

2 complaints

Owners report recurring electrical system failures in the 2024 Ram Promaster, particularly involving the dashboard and vehicle shutdowns. Common symptoms include the driver's console and information display going dark at highway speeds, with functions gradually returning after approximately 10 seconds. Another issue involves the vehicle completely shutting off without warning, requiring a restart and occurring multiple times, notably at mileages of 9769 and 9980. These incidents happen at various speeds and result in the vehicle coming to an almost immediate stop, posing potential safety risks due to loss of vehicle control. Buyers should be aware of these issues, especially in vehicles with less than 10,000 miles.

Vehicle is overheating without gauges showing a problem. Had a mechanic check it out and the cooling fans are not working. I have seen there is a recall for this problem, but my VIN is not listed. This is a known problem, but RAM needs to widen their scope of vehicles that are affected by this fire risk.

The contact's son owns a 2024 Ram Promaster 2500. While the owner was driving approximately 55-60 MPH, the front passenger's side rearview mirror closed independently, reducing the driver's ability to see the roadway. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

On Thursday, [XXX], I took my vehicle to the authorized dealership Alberic Chrysler Jeep Dodge, located on Kennedy Avenue in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for routine maintenance. While handling the vehicle, the service personnel lifted it using the shop's lift equipment, raising it all the way to the ceiling, which caused severe structural damage to the vehicle's roof. The dealership contacted the Puerto Rico State Police, who filed report number [XXX]. Additionally, I was asked to complete a written damage claim at the dealership. The vehicle was under full manufacturer's warranty at the time of the incident. However, the structural damage has now compromised the vehicle's integrity, specifically: - The rear doors became misaligned. - The roof suffered a visible crack, which exposed the interior of the vehicle to weather conditions. - The damage potentially affects warranty coverage, especially related to corrosion protection. We requested that the dealership retain the vehicle on-site to allow for inspection by the manufacturer's technical team. The dealership refused to do so unless I agreed to pay a $25 daily storage fee. We also requested substitute transportation, which they denied. Additionally, according to the NHTSA database, this vehicle currently has an open safety recall. I was never informed of this recall by the dealership at the time of the maintenance appointment, which is a serious failure in the dealership's responsibility to notify the owner and address potential safety risks. The vehicle is used for both personal and professional transportation, and at the time of the incident, it had 8,402 miles. This incident raises significant safety concerns regarding the vehicle's structural integrity, the open recall, and the dealership's handling of the matter. I respectfully request NHTSA's assistance in investigating this situation to ensure that both the safety standards and consumer protections are upheld. Vibration and droning sound in vehicle while driving

The issues are at an rpm at 1050 at any speed keeping it steady in this exact range. If you go slower it will drop a gear and is fine. If you go above this rpm in this gear it goes away. They changed the transmission valve body and updated software. This didn't fix the problem. What it did do is raise the idle rpm from 500 to 550 and lowered the warmup rpm, which was much higher. I've been on 2 tech rides 1 to show him the issues that he could not duplicate, then he drove and replicated issues. Another issue l brought it in for was the clunking when slowing down to a stop. It seems fixed for now only the clunking issue. Now 1/7/2026 they are telling me that the vehicle is within normal operating conditions. I have less than 7800 miles on a brand new 2023 Ram 1500 mild hybrid. What would correct this problem would be for the transmission computer to drop to a lower gear just above the 1050 rpm to avoid lugging the engine. More than a year

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
