Complaints frequently mention loss of power while driving, with vehicles unexpectedly switching to park or neutral, sometimes resulting in sudden stops. These issues typically occur at low mileages, often below 20,000 miles, and have led to vehicles being towed for extensive repairs. Safety implications are evident as multiple owners describe situations where the vehicle's loss of control could have led to accidents, particularly during highway driving or in traffic. Multiple owners describe the infotainment system malfunctioning, with symptoms including the rear camera remaining active, sound volume controls failing, and non-functional steering wheel controls. Additionally, one owner notes the physical difficulty in lifting the hood due to the absence of assist springs or shocks, which could pose a safety concern if the hood falls. No specific mileage ranges are mentioned, but these issues appear to occur soon after purchase.

Symptoms described include fog emanating from air vents, water accumulation on the driver's side floor, and subsequent failures of speakers and signal lights, with one owner linking these issues to a clogged drain line. Another common complaint involves persistent error messages related to the blind spot assist feature, with the issue occurring intermittently since purchase. Additionally, a severe incident is reported where the vehicle in PARK displayed a brake system failure message, leading to compromised braking performance and increased stopping distances. These problems are noted at low mileages, such as 3,757 miles, and may pose safety risks, especially in the case of brake system warnings.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE (1 complaints)
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaintMy wife and I took our new vehicle on a 7k mile road trip this summer. Two times while on the freeway around 70 MPH, the sensors went wild. The cars auto break came on and red lights and collision warnings went off in the seat and the HUD. The vehicle slowed down to about 35 immediately! Then everything turned off and we sped back went down the road like nothing happened. Luckily there was no behind us or in front of us for a good distance. The thing is during both of the there was a car in the lane next to us at our 1 or 2 o'clock position. Perhaps the sensors. Mistakingly thought we were about to hit that car. Can these seniors be adjusted?

Put it in park for a minute. Message showing on dash read - acceleration power reduced. Drove it on home (engine light stayed on) parked it & had it towed to dealership the next morning. Got a call from dealership the same afternoon saying the vehicle was ready to be picked up. Picked up later in evening from dealership. They left keys & paper in car for pick up. We still tend the paper left it in the box showing we picked it up. The vehicle drove good back home. Drove it the next day, As I was pulling out from a stop sign, it started jumping again for a few seconds. Got home & had my husband to drive it, as we were coming up a small hill, it started jumping & losing power again engine light was blinking at this point. Dash board read engine power reduced. My husband kept on the accelerater & when we got on top of the hill engine light went off & we drove it back to the dealership & left it to be checked again. They kept the vehicle for 7 days & said they were not able to find concern. We picked it up again. Drove it back home without any incident. It has been parked since we got it home.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
