The engine stalls while driving or will not start, with no warning, and dealers often cannot find the cause. Some of these cars have low mileage. The power liftgate drops or closes on people, and owners report a back injury and a cut to the face. Wireless chargers overheat phones. The Sync 4 screen freezes and reboots, which disables its functions for minutes at a time. Other reports include a seat heater that caused burns, frequent battery saver warnings, and a burning chemical smell in the cabin.

Front bags stay stowed in serious crashes, and most reports in this category involve both a crash and an injury. Owners describe the driver and passenger front bags failing to deploy in a T-bone collision, and no deployment at all in a crash at about 40 mph. In another crash, every bag deployed except the one in the steering wheel. One report adds that the SOS system did not work. Separately, an airbag system warning tells the driver to stop driving, and the dealer cannot find the cause.

Sudden power loss or shutdown while driving is the common thread, sometimes in the middle of traffic. One report describes antifreeze getting into the combustion chamber at highway speed, and the owner was told the car needed a new engine. In another car, low-speed stuttering sent the dealer to the transmission instead. A knocking sound in reverse appeared at 900 miles, and the dealer found nothing wrong. Only a handful of reports exist, so no mileage pattern is visible.

The collision warning goes off on empty roads, and in some cases the system brakes the car for no reason. Other owners report the reverse problem: no warning before a rear-end crash. Blocked-sensor messages appear even after the sensors are cleaned, and they shut off adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. In one case the dealer traced a sensor failure to a front bumper bracket that had come loose.

The sunroof shatters with a loud pop while the car is moving, at both city and highway speeds, with no debris or sign of impact. Drivers notice the damage after opening the sunshade, which is often still intact. Repairs mean replacing the sunroof glass, and one owner says the manufacturer provided no help. One separate report describes wind noise from a rear passenger window.

Warning lights report that ABS, traction control, cruise control and collision mitigation are all inoperable. In one nearly new car the cause was a bad ABS module, and the replacement part was backordered. Other reports describe surging, bouncing RPMs and hesitation at 20 to 40 mph, which makes merging difficult. One driver says the car lunged forward while braking for a red light and then stalled.

After a crash, the doors stay locked and trap the occupants. In one report they had to be cut out, and four people were hurt. In separate incidents, the liftgate lowers or opens without warning and strikes people on the head, causing cuts. Few reports fall in this category, but both involve injuries.
