20 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
POWER TRAIN
5 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette frequently report issues related to the power train, particularly transmission failures. Common symptoms include the car not shifting beyond certain gears, the gear indicator disappearing, and the vehicle becoming unresponsive to the gas pedal. Some owners experience these issues at relatively low mileages, such as 812 miles, while others report problems after 19,000 miles. Safety implications are significant, with one report involving a fire caused by a cracked transmission case leading to transmission fluid igniting on the exhaust system, resulting in an injury. Buyers should be aware of potential transmission-related safety risks and difficulties in obtaining timely repairs.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
5 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette report several issues, with a notable focus on electronic and safety systems. Complaints frequently mention problems with the backup camera, which sometimes fails to display the rear view, posing a potential safety risk. Another common issue involves the automatic headlight system, which reportedly activates incorrectly, with headlights turning on during daylight and vice versa. One severe incident involved a crash and fire, linked by the owner to a recall for fuel spillage, highlighting significant safety implications. Additionally, there are reports of the vehicle starting on its own, leading to carbon monoxide buildup, and these issues are reported across various timelines without specific mileage patterns.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
4 complaintsOwners of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette frequently report issues related to the vehicle's electrical system. A common problem involves the failure of the reverse and front cameras, with symptoms including intermittent operation and complete failure shortly after purchase, often within the first 100 miles. Another issue involves the electric door and convertible top buttons becoming unresponsive, requiring manual operation. In some cases, owners experience a complete loss of acceleration and braking, accompanied by multiple warning lights on the dashboard, which poses significant safety risks. These problems often occur under 1,000 miles and have led to concerns about the vehicle's reliability and safety, particularly in situations requiring camera assistance for safe maneuvering.
SERVICE BRAKES (2 complaints)
SERVICE BRAKES
2 complaintsOwners report two distinct issues with the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette's service brakes. One complaint describes a complete brake system failure accompanied by an electronic stability control (ESC) shutdown, resulting in the vehicle entering a speed-limited limp mode. Another owner notes a grinding noise when driving slowly, occurring under both wet and dry conditions, which persists despite dealer assurances of normal operation. Neither complaint specifies mileage, and no crashes or loss of control are reported. These issues could be relevant for potential buyers assessing the reliability of the braking system in varying conditions.

SUSPENSION (1 complaints)
SUSPENSION
1 complaintShortly after purchasing the vehicle at the local Carson City,NV CHEVROLET dealer on 5/18/2025 my passenger started to hear a muffled “thumping noise” from the right front foot well? I am a disabled veteran USAF pilot with hearing loss and did not immediately hear it. The car had 29,129 miles on it when purchased and was a “certified vehicle” with some remaining original warranty as well as an extended warranty given its great condition(I was told!) After a few hundred miles of driving the sound became much louder and VERY noticeable when even on rough roads I discovered when removing the “frunk” trim to investigate a weak battery up front that an aluminum upper suspension right front shock mount was only being retained by a single bolt of the FOUR designed to secure it! Two had sheared the aluminum mount off and one bolt had broken off and was missing! The car has been in possession of the dealer since I had it towed in 6/27/2025 I have had NO RESPONSE from the dealer as to the cause.other than to indicate that it had been a rental car company acquisition No other external body/suspension/tire/fender damage was visible The dealer has confirmed the failure and has to my knowledge not repaired it although they did indicate that GM engineers were advised?
SEAT BELTS (1 complaints)
SEAT BELTS
1 complaintThe passenger seat belt locks and pins the passenger down. It will not release unless it’s released from the release button. If there’s an accident, my passenger would be seriously injured.
STRUCTURE (1 complaints)

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
