ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

9 complaints

Owners of the 2025 Mazda CX-30 frequently report issues with the electrical system, particularly concerning the auto-lock function of the doors and liftgate, with some detailing over 200 occurrences of these malfunctions. Key fob durability is another concern, as owners mention fobs breaking easily, leading to difficulties in locking and unlocking the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle's wireless phone charger is reported to cause excessive heating of devices, although a dealer describes this as normal. Complaints about these issues begin shortly after purchase, and while no crashes or fires are reported, the potential for distraction due to persistent sensor warnings is noted.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

4 complaintsSafety-related

Owners of the 2025 Mazda CX-30 report several issues primarily involving unexpected mechanical and administrative problems. One owner describes an incident where the sunroof exploded while driving on the highway, without any apparent impact from external objects. Another reports a significant discrepancy in fuel range, noting a decrease in expected mileage during highway driving. A crash is reported in a separate complaint, where the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated when the brakes were applied, resulting in loss of control. Additionally, an owner describes receiving incorrect recall notifications due to identity theft, although this is not directly related to the vehicle's performance. These issues occur across varied mileage and usage scenarios, with significant safety implications noted in the unintended acceleration incident.

SERVICE BRAKES

2 complaintsSafety-related

Owners of the 2025 Mazda CX-30 report issues with the service brakes, particularly involving the spacing between the brake and accelerator pedals. One owner describes a crash occurring at low speed when their foot slipped between the pedals, resulting in a collision with a garage wall. This issue has reportedly occurred multiple times at approximately 700 miles. Another owner mentions multiple warning messages related to the vehicle's braking system, including "i-Activsense Malfunction" and "ABS Malfunction," at just 71 miles. This complaint also notes a diagnosis of a harness failure, though the part needed for repair was unavailable. These reports indicate potential safety implications due to pedal spacing and electronic malfunctions at low mileages.

WHEELS (2 complaints)

WHEELS

2 complaints

Owners report issues with tire pressure variability in the 2025 Mazda CX-30. Multiple complaints describe inconsistent tire pressure levels across all tires since purchase, with changes occurring even under mild driving conditions. TIRES (1 complaints)

TIRES

At an unspecified service visit I Was told tires were at manufacturers recommended psi YESTERDAY - left the lot at 1530. The next morning - warning system indicated low psi- even as low as 30psi and front passenger so low it did not give a reading??? I have no idea why a service visit was even recommended at 1000 miles. Intake rep said for manufacturer oil change and maintenance?! 1000 miles? Bought 11-8-25?! So, if service visits are directly tied to software communication of the vehicle then, thats being reported too.

ENGINE (1 complaints)

ENGINE

1 complaint
2025-11-12

I wondered if, after my first service visit on 11-12-25, the dealership put regular leaded gas instead of premium in it, because there was a noticeable difference in gas mileage and the engine started revving pretty high, in my opinion. It also seemed to have less power (which was my main reason foe thinking the wrong gas had been out in). And since then, it hasn't been the same.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (1 complaints)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

1 complaint
2025-12-01

Warning sensors activate randomly- of oncoming vehicles- in my opinion for no reason. Enough space between cars. Normal speeds, etc. Warning sensor to engage Brakes activate without sufficient reason. More than enough space between cars, normal speeds. Occasionally, it feels as if cruise control has taken over and slows the car down (not braking exactly, but controlling the speed by decreasing it). Acceleration also seems to randomly be controlled in the same manner.

VISIBILITY/WIPER (1 complaints)

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Although im confident in my own driving skills, it concerns me that the blind spots are so bad that it is NECESSARY to use the blind spot warning system and reverse/back up camera.

STEERING (1 complaints)

STEERING

1 complaint
2025-12-04

I have noticed over 30 things wrong with this car. Including but not limited to- the FIRST THINGS I mentioned to the dealership there seems to be apull to the right (suspension/alignment). The car randomly starts driving or feeling 'jerky" as if cruise control has taken over - 'phantom braking' is a term I came across that sounds accurate to me. And now, after having the vehicle for almost 30 days- there is significantly less mpg.received. 300 first tank vs about 250 this current tank.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
