2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Common Problems by Component
19 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
8 complaintsOwners report several electrical system issues with the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer, notably involving the rear backup camera, which frequently stops working and requires replacement. Complaints also mention a malfunctioning battery charging system, with warnings indicating potential stalling and loss of power or steering, though no resolution is currently available from dealers. Additionally, some owners experience Bluetooth connectivity problems and high-pitched static noises when using Android phones with the vehicle’s radio system. These issues are observed in vehicles with low mileage, as early as shortly after purchase, and present potential safety concerns due to the loss of vehicle control and malfunctioning safety features.
POWER TRAIN
6 complaintsOwners report several powertrain issues with the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer, primarily involving transmission malfunctions. Complaints frequently mention severe "garage shift" engagement lurches when shifting from Reverse to Drive during cold starts, resulting in unintended vehicle movement even with the brake fully applied. Additionally, some owners describe complete transmission failure due to leaking valves, leading to fluid loss and vehicle immobilization, often at low mileage such as 21 miles. Another reported issue involves the vehicle rolling when parked without the parking brake engaged. Safety implications include risks of low-speed collisions, potential for accidents due to sudden transmission failure, and loss of vehicle control. These reports suggest potential reliability concerns for prospective buyers, particularly regarding transmission integrity and safety.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
3 complaintsOwners of the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer frequently report issues with the vehicle's infotainment and electrical systems. Complaints describe the dash and infotainment system going blank while driving, with a temporary loss of power followed by the activation of warning lights. Another common issue involves the complete failure of the navigation, radio, internet, and OnStar services, with some owners noting this occurs intermittently and without warning. Additionally, one report highlights a significant mechanical concern where the axle nut on the passenger side detached, posing a potential risk of wheel detachment. These issues appear to occur in newer vehicles with unspecified mileage, and the lack of reliable navigation and emergency services, as well as potential mechanical failures, could have safety implications for drivers.
ENGINE (1 complaints)
ENGINE
1 complaintMy vehicle started overheating out of no where towed it to the shop, it’s been there for 2 weeks they’re actively waiting for a manufacturer engineer to tell them what to do because they can’t figure out how to fix it. On top of that there have been a lot of overheating issues cause by different parts on the vehicle. There was another trailblazer in the at the same time as mine that was also overheating! A 2025 vehicle should not be having issues at this point gmc should just take all the trailblazers off the market! Also they need to change their manufacturing warranty on rentals because not one person should not have to pay out of pocket for a rental when it’s the manufacturers fault!
STEERING (1 complaints)
STEERING
1 complaintThe incident involved a 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer, purchased new in late February 2025. The failure appears related to the vehicle’s electrical/charging system and associated control modules, resulting in a sudden loss of critical safety systems. The vehicle was towed by GM Roadside Assistance and is currently at an authorized Chevrolet dealership, where it is available for inspection upon request. While driving in Cambria, New York, the dashboard illuminated with multiple warning indicators and the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power steering and braking. The brake pedal traveled fully to the floor with no resistance and no braking effect. Steering effort increased dramatically. The driver was only able to avoid a crash due to favorable road and traffic conditions and was able to coast to a stop and pull off the roadway. This failure posed an immediate and serious risk of injury or death to the driver and others. The problem had occurred previously in the form of repeated warning messages. Beginning within the first week of ownership, the vehicle displayed “Service the Charge System Vehicle May Stall” warnings and since then has appeared hundreds of times. The vehicle was previously towed to an authorized Chevrolet dealership, where we were informed that General Motors identified the issue as a known software-related problem and advised that the vehicle could continue to be driven while awaiting a future update. The catastrophic failure occurred after this guidance. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership both prior to and following this incident, and General Motors has been involved through dealership communication. No police or insurance inspection has occurred, as no collision resulted. Based on the repeated warnings, dealer statements, and nature of the failure, the best assessment is an electrical or software-related malfunction, though the precise root cause remains UNKNOWN and requires investigation.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
