ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.

Consequence

An instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Dealers will update the instrument panel software for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB08 and 25TA08. Lexus' numbers for this recall are 25LB05 and 25LA05.

BACK OVER PREVENTION

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. A software error may cause the rearview camera to freeze or display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence

A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the parking assist software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 2, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB13 and 25LB06. Subaru's number for this recall is WRE25.

5 complaints

Owners report several issues with the 2025 Lexus TX, with a notable pattern of air conditioner condenser failures. Complaints frequently mention the condenser being susceptible to road debris, leading to leaks and subsequent AC malfunction, often occurring at low mileages, such as 580 and 12,000 miles. Another common issue includes the vehicle's sound system intermittently failing to play audio until the car is restarted. Additionally, some owners experience problems with the fuel door release, requiring multiple attempts to open. These issues do not currently indicate any direct safety implications, but they may concern potential buyers regarding repair costs and inconvenience.

STRUCTURE

2 complaints

Owners report a recurring issue with the 2025 Lexus TX involving hood fluttering at highway speeds. Complaints frequently mention that dealers acknowledge the problem but indicate there is no available repair, and the issue is observed in other TX models as well. There are no specific mileage ranges or timelines provided in the complaints. No reports of crashes, fires, or loss of control are associated with this issue. Used car buyers should be aware of this unresolved hood fluttering problem that currently lacks a dealer-provided solution.

POWER TRAIN

2 complaints

Owners of the 2025 Lexus TX report issues with the power train, particularly related to acceleration. Complaints frequently mention that the vehicle hesitates or loses power during acceleration, especially when the HV Battery State of Charge is below 30% or during a cold start. This hesitation can cause the vehicle to move forward slowly even when the accelerator is pressed significantly, posing a safety risk in traffic situations such as merging or making turns, as described by multiple owners. These issues are reported to occur early in the vehicle's life, as one owner mentions experiencing it in March 2025. Buyers should be aware of these potential power train symptoms and the associated safety implications when considering this vehicle.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (2 complaints)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

2 complaints

Owners of the 2025 Lexus TX report issues with the vehicle's main display screen, which can go blank, affecting the visibility of the forward, surround, and reverse cameras. Complaints frequently mention that the screen failure occurs while shifting gears, particularly when transitioning into reverse or park, rendering the control interface inaccessible. The specific mileage or timeline for these occurrences is not detailed in the complaints. While no crashes or injuries are reported, the loss of camera visibility and control display could potentially impact driving safety, especially when maneuvering the vehicle. This information may be pertinent for prospective buyers considering the vehicle's electronic reliability.

We leased the Lexus at the end of May 2025. My husband I drove the car. It was nice. My husband and I are in our early [XXX] . Meaning we are very capable of driving. We both ride motorcycles, snowmobiles, dirt bikes,4 wheeling and we also own 1957 truck, 2024 corvette, and we even both drove our own corvettes at the spring mountain in Nevada. That being said this car is a nightmare. I don’t need a car to take over my driving, braking, and anything else. Whether it’s driving 75-80mph and you are on a major interstate and it decides that the sweeping curve is dangerous while I’m passing a semi or a string of cars! I don’t need it to slow down because it thinks too fast of a curve?!?!?. I took it to Brookfield Lexus for over a week I spoke with service told them what I dislike about the car. The one service tech said,”. You are not the only one that dislikes all of the safety features”! I asked him can you remove all of the safety features, “ he said not sure but we will do what we can”! When I picked up my car on Dec 20,2025 they showed me that only a couple of safety features can be shut off. The other ones have to be shut off manually everytime you start the car!!!!! I should not have to go into the computer and manually shut other features off because it’s back to flashing, beeping, and any other annoying features to put me in danger because it’s telling me you are going to have an accident!!!! It’s a distraction that is a problem. My daughter drove it home with our small trailer in a snowstorm last Sunday . My daughter was changing lanes and when she did your auto braking took control and she almost went in the ditch. With the trailer on the back it started to slide because it was overcompensating which put my daughter, the car, my trailer, and anyone else near her in danger. I spoke with Lexus Corporate and filed a complaint. They said there was nothing wrong with the car. There is a major problem with that car. Braking malfunction

After about 100 miles all the dash lites came on,cel, anti skid parking brake ECT. It said pull over right away and have towed to dealer. Well I was not to far from home so drove it home. The brake pedal was very hard to push so I drove slow and tried not to use brake pedal. I could use it if I did it gently. Next morning , drove it to shop and they called me back and said they got a code c1247 which was brake pedal stroke sensor. Replaced that and had it calibrated. After driving around 70 miles it did the same thing. Stiff brake ,lites on dash, so took it back and it came back with the same code so they erased the code on the obd and it drives perfect until I hit the 70 mi and does it again. This has happened like 5times and even took it to different shops. All they do is reset code and they tell me it is good to go .Could it be in the brake booster? When I tell them the problem is still there they all have said " it's probably the abs module but they are just guessing. Booster? When the dash lites are off it rides perfect for 70 miles or so More than a month

Repair estimate

Is it worth it to repair a 2007 Lexus RX400h that needs the compressor, condenser and hybrid battery replaced? Car no longer turns on. The heat/AC would make the car run rough. More than a month

Seatbelt alarm

The seatbelt alarm for the rear middle seatbelt goes off even when no one is sitting in the back seats and no items are on the seats either. The only way I’ve been keeping this from triggering every time I drive is to keep the middle seatbelt latched. I’ve been told that it is a faulty sensor in the latch and it should be replaced. Is this the only way? More than a year

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
