SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger vehicles. The Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module may malfunction while driving or when the driver is utilizing an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature, resulting in a loss of power brake assist.
Consequence
An unexpected loss of power brake assist while driving can extend stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loss of power brake assist while ADAS features are engaged can result in the vehicle not braking as expected, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the electronic brake booster, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed December 15, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in January 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SD4. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on December 3, 2025.
VISIBILITY
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Bronco and Ranger vehicles. During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 212, "Windshield Mounting."
Consequence
In the event of a crash, windshield detachment can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will remove and replace the windshield, free charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 20, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C52. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 14, 2025.

2025 Ford Ranger Common Problems by Component
11 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
SERVICE BRAKES
4 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners report several issues with the 2025 Ford Ranger's braking system. Complaints frequently mention brake failure warnings and a lack of braking response, sometimes accompanied by warning lights and beeping sounds. Two owners describe experiences where the brakes did not engage effectively, with one incident resulting in a collision at low speed. Problems appear at low mileages, such as 100 and approximately 2,000 miles, with one case involving a failed ABS module. Additionally, one owner notes ergonomic challenges with the brake pedal positioning, which could potentially delay braking in certain situations. These reports suggest potential safety implications, including the risk of crashes due to brake system malfunctions.
POWER TRAIN
2 complaintsOwners report two primary issues with the 2025 Ford Ranger's power train. First, some vehicles experience a failure to accelerate, entering a reduced engine power mode, commonly known as limp mode. This issue is accompanied by a "popping" noise and typically starts around 1,500 miles. Second, multiple owners describe a loss of power when another vehicle changes lanes in front of them, even with adaptive cruise control and emergency braking disabled. This power loss lasts 2-3 seconds and occurs frequently during highway driving. Both issues pose safety risks due to sudden loss of acceleration, with one owner noting near-collisions with large trucks.
ENGINE
1 complaintI was driving my truck home on 01/22/26 and experienced a lack of acceleration and smelled oil. I got the truck home and looked under the hood. I noticed a collapsed rubber hose leading from the air intake box to the air intake of the turbo. I removed the air filter, which is practically new, and noticed no restrictions. At this point, I am trying to get it to the dealer to check for any additional problems, and replace the rubber intake hose, with something possibly better. From what I saw, the hose which has corrugations cannot handle the boost intake.
EQUIPMENT (1 complaints)
EQUIPMENT
1 complaintThe contact owns a 2025 Ford Ranger equipped with an aftermarket truck bed cover, Product Line: BAK Industries, Product Type: Tonneau Cover, Product: BAK 80342, Serial Number: RVO193745. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the bed cover suddenly detached from the vehicle, becoming airborne and crossing over three lanes of traffic before landing in a ditch. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the clamps used to secure the cover to the bed of the vehicle had remained attached to the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM (1 complaints)
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaintSafety-relatedI washed the truck and sprayed the undercarriage. I drove it about 5 miles home without any issues. I stopped at the bottom of my driveway to get the mail.My driveway is about 150’ long and has a moderate up hill grade. At the top of the driveway I had to turn left to pull into the garage.I also had to stop to open the garage door. I don’t have a garage door opener. As I started turning left the truck suddenly lunged forward as if it was floored.I had been approaching the garage very slow knowing that I had to stop to manually open the door. I was unable to stop, drove through the door taking down both garage doors and the pillar between them. I have lived here for 35 years I have pulled in and out of this garage literally thousands of times without incident. The pedals were not obstructed by anything, and I’m positive I applied the brakes and not the accelerator. There is a lot of damage to the house, truck, a new motorcycle and a large commercial type lawnmower. As bad as this is I know it could have been worse. If this had happened in traffic or around pedestrians I hate to imagine what might have happened. I was only able to find 2 other people on the internet who said they had a similar experience with the same model and year truck. If the dealership cannot find or diagnose what happened, I will not feel safe driving this vehicle.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (1 complaints)
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
1 complaintThe head rest leans out so far at the top that my chin hits my chest. It doesn't matter if I try to lean the seat back of forth. Please evaluate the head rest as I believe it will cause serious injury as there is no back and forth adjustment. This can cause severe damage to the neck. You insisted on head rests for safety and I am very concerned about this. Also they are leaning the window so far back that with the sun out its impossible to see out with the reflections from the dash board showing in the window. The glare though the side drivers window is blocking me from seeing the odometer and gages. I really don't understand the use of so much computer that distracts drivers. If this is not your department send it to might be of assistance. I am talking about the 2025 ford ranger truck.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
