EQUIPMENT

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The certification label located on the driver's side B-pillar contains tire size information that may be illegible. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Consequence

Illegible tire size information may result in the wrong tires being installed, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the vehicle certification label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 12, 2022. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222381690.

POWER TRAIN

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear, which can result in the driver-side half-shaft disengaging from the transmission.

Consequence

A half-shaft disengaging from the transmission can result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the sun gears, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2023. The remedy is expected to become available August 31, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GMC's number for this recall is N222389310.

POWER TRAIN

4 complaints

Owners of the 2023 Cadillac XT6 report issues primarily related to power train malfunctions. A recurring problem involves delayed recall repairs due to unavailable parts, with multiple owners noting the manufacturer has not provided the necessary components within a reasonable timeframe. Additionally, some owners describe instances where the vehicle unexpectedly loses motive power, with one report noting this occurred at 64,000 miles. Another issue involves the vehicle moving forward when placed in reverse, posing a potential safety risk. These complaints highlight concerns about reliability and safety, particularly when the vehicle's behavior contradicts driver input.

BACK OVER PREVENTION

2 complaintsSafety-related

Owners of the 2023 Cadillac XT6 report issues related to the back over prevention system, specifically with rear sensors and the rear camera. One complaint describes a crash occurring at low speed due to the absence of audible alerts, with the owner noting that the vehicle lacked sensors in the rear bumper. Another complaint details repeated malfunctions of the rear camera, with problems arising approximately one month after purchase and persisting despite multiple dealership visits. These issues highlight potential safety implications, as the failure of these systems could lead to collisions with unseen objects or individuals behind the vehicle.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

1 complaint
2026-01-29

The vehicle has experienced repeated fuel system failures. The fuel pump control module (FPCM) is a known General Motors issue on similar vehicles, but this specific vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle now displays diagnostic trouble code P2635 – Fuel Pump Flow Performance. The engine hesitates and loses power during acceleration, especially under load or when the vehicle is warm. Prior to this code, the vehicle repeatedly reported fuel injector-related faults. Four fuel injectors have already failed and required replacement, causing significant financial loss. Based on diagnosis, the injector failures appear to be secondary damage caused by improper fuel control from the fuel pump control module. This condition creates a potential safety risk due to unexpected hesitation and reduced engine power while driving. The issue appears to be related to a systemic electronic fuel control problem rather than normal wear.

I bought cadillac XT6 four months ago . Last week i noticed that car steering lock when turning right on highway over 25mph. I went to the empire cadillac of long island city (NY). Mechanic took test drive with me and even he noticed that there is some problem. After keeping my car 2 days they said they did not find anything. I ask them to change the steering motor but mechanic said they know better than me. I picked up my car and same problem is there. Locking steering on highway is very dangerous. Please help

My lift gate would open by itself when I put the car in park. It would also open overnight while parked in the garage. When I discovered it open, the battery had ran down. Opening while in park happened about 6 times.

I purchased a 2023 Cadillac XT6 .the issue is when I SHIFT into reverse at night the back up camera get very dim and it is very hard to see anything thru the rear display. Cadillac say's it is working as designed. .They are correct. I tried this on other Cadillac XT6 car and same issue. There is a safety issue it is VERY dim. I tried a Buick,, and Chevy and they both worked great I could see at night in a dim Garage .All ALL they say is "it is working as designed". This answer does not fix a safety issue that is required to work in ALL cars. It is very hard to see what is behind me. The dealer has seen it and admits there is a design issue. However they can only tell Cadillac that "it is working as designed

I have a Cadillac 2023 XT6 When I put the car in reverse in the daytime the Back up camera display works fine. If it is at night,Raining, or during any hours of the day like in a garage the display dims .It is hard to see a person behind you or any poles. When shifting into Reverse, it is bright then it goes dim. I brought it in to the dealer and they gave me a Chevy loaner and that works great and my last car worked great. The dealer checked everything, Ans I was told "it is working to spec" although they see an issue that they can't fix.

During a drive at about 40 MPH down a straight, dry two-lane, something went wrong and it decided to encourage me to drive into the ditch, steering me directly off the road. It was consistent, and when I found a stretch with a wide shoulder to see what would happen, it took me unerringly to the right, onto the dirt. For me, it was unnerving and distracting, but I could only imagine what would have happened to an elderly driver with a loose grip on the wheel.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.

Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Cadillac XT6.
