12 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
SERVICE BRAKES
3 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners of the 2022 Buick Enclave report issues with the service brakes, particularly involving brake boosters and grinding noises. One owner describes a brake booster failure at 100,000 miles, leading to non-functional brakes upon vehicle start-up, without prior warning lights. Another complaint highlights persistent brake grinding shortly after purchase, with unresolved issues despite dealership visits and brake pad replacements due to a GM bulletin. A separate incident involves a crash in stop-and-go traffic where the vehicle's collision sensors failed to activate, resulting in minor damage and highlighting potential safety risks. These reports suggest brake-related problems can arise early in the vehicle's life, and buyers should be aware of potential safety implications, especially in terms of brake performance and collision prevention systems.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
2 complaintsOwners of the 2022 Buick Enclave report issues with the electrical system, specifically with the rear hatch and lighting components. Complaints frequently mention the rear hatch opening randomly and the button's inconsistent functionality. Another reported issue involves electrical failure affecting both headlights and brake lights, leaving the vehicle inoperable during low-light conditions. This problem is noted at approximately 70,000 miles and poses significant safety risks due to the inability to use headlights and brake lights. Potential buyers should be aware of these electrical concerns, especially if the vehicle is out of warranty.
BACK OVER PREVENTION
1 complaintThe contact owns a 2022 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the daytime running lights failed to function as intended. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that occasionally, while shifted into reverse, the rearview camera failed to display an image as intended. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not identified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING (1 complaints)
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
1 complaintSafety-relatedDue to an inability of the Buick auto manufacturers to provide parts to my 2022 Enclave, after becoming disabled to drive in auto accident..since November 27th, enduring a 3 month wait with rental car fees, and emotional stress strickly because unable to obtain parts! How does a company sell a car without the ability to pro ide ANY customer service in a timely manner.. I've made 4 car payments with no car..I purchased a Buick with the expectation of quality service..
UNKNOWN OR OTHER (1 complaints)
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
1 complaintA known defect that was previously addressed in a previous recall on the 2019 model year is still occurring on 2022 Buick Enclaves with no repair offered by GM. The defect causes a large hole to form in the exhaust pipe between the exhaust manifold and the muffler which could leak Carbon Monoxide into the passenger compartment and cause decreased engine performance. In the attached pictures the defect hole noted in the recall exactly matches the hole in the 2 pictures of the underside of my car in the exact same spot is the previous recall identified. It’s obvious that GM is still producing defective components and parts and placing them on their vehicles after a recall had caused repairs to previous model years.
ENGINE (1 complaints)
ENGINE
1 complaintMounting bracket for exhaust in front develops a leak at a cross member. GMC is aware of the issue and has refused to honor their extended warranty for the 2021 model year on my 2022 Buick that was delivered in 2021 due to mileage even though the extended service plan extends mileage to 150,000, mi and 15 years. Vehicle has exhaust leak which triggered check engine light. Could also possibly cause carbon monoxide poisoning
VISIBILITY/WIPER (1 complaints)

As you can see in the three attached pictures, all the signs has a shadow in addition to the lights it shows that there is another light under the original light while in fact there is only one
POWER TRAIN (1 complaints)
POWER TRAIN
1 complaintEngine revving, would not shift even after taking my foot off the accelerator. Had to pull over and shut the car off. After restart, it was very hard shifting but the engine wasn't revving, Engine light stayed on. Engine revved between 3,500-4,500 rpms without shifting. The car can be very jerky when accelerating from a stop and shifting the first time or two.

1 complaintThe contact owns a 2022 Buick Enclave. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, she heard an abnormal loud popping noise coming from the exterior of the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle and noticed that the sunroof glass had shattered. The contact stated there was no object that had struck the sunroof nor any other vehicle nearby that could have caused the sunroof to shatter. The contact was able to continue to drive and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The dealer replaced the sunroof glass. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Buick Enclave.
