5 complaintsOwners report several electrical system issues with the 2025 Genesis GV70. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle losing power or failing to accelerate, often accompanied by warning lights such as the immobilization light, with occurrences noted as early as 1,500 miles. Multiple owners describe the instrument panel and infotainment system going blank intermittently, with one case requiring system replacement at around 6,000 miles. Safety implications include sudden braking and loss of control, with one report of the car braking abruptly in a school zone due to an incorrect collision warning. These issues may impact vehicle reliability and safety, particularly in situations requiring consistent power and control.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
3 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners report forward collision avoidance issues with the 2025 Genesis GV70, primarily involving unintended braking and steering interventions. Complaints frequently mention the cruise control system activating brakes without cause, even when no obstacles are present, leading to near rear-end collisions. Another common issue involves false emergency braking when reversing, described as intense and unprovoked. These problems typically begin shortly after purchase or around 30,000 miles. One incident resulted in a crash when the vehicle's lane assist system unexpectedly steered into a curb. These issues present significant safety concerns, including loss of control and increased risk of collision.
POWER TRAIN
2 complaintsOwners of the 2025 Genesis GV70 report issues related to the power train, primarily involving sudden loss of power while driving. Complaints frequently mention that the vehicle stops functioning properly, with all dashboard warning lights illuminating, requiring the driver to turn off and restart the vehicle to continue. One owner describes repeated repair attempts without resolution, including extended periods at the dealership, and reports a specific incident involving a safety risk while driving with family members. Another owner notes a warning to check the EV system, indicating potential issues with the vehicle's electrical components. These issues occur despite multiple service interventions, suggesting unresolved reliability concerns for potential buyers.
STEERING (2 complaints)
STEERING
2 complaintsOwners report issues with the 2025 Genesis GV70's steering related to power loss and multiple warning indicators. Complaints frequently mention a sudden loss of power steering accompanied by numerous warning lights, including power steering, brake, and charging system alerts. UNKNOWN OR OTHER
2 complaintsOwners of the 2025 Genesis GV70 report two primary issues. One involves a persistent metal-to-metal noise when reversing on an incline, specifically noted shortly after purchase, with one owner documenting the noise consistently occurring down their driveway. The second issue involves the driver's display going completely black, leaving only the airbag warning light operational, which raises concerns about airbag functionality and results in the loss of other functions like cruise control. One owner notes that their dealership has encountered similar display failures in other vehicles. These issues are reported early in the vehicle's life, suggesting potential early onset problems.
VISIBILITY/WIPER (1 complaints)
VISIBILITY/WIPER
1 complaintThis happened in an Enterprise rental car. Now I will be fighting against loss of rental and rental damages to car my insurance company provided because of a claim on my personal vehicle. I was driving northbound 270 merging onto westbound 64 in St. Louis, Mo, when the back windshield spontaneously exploded. I thought it was a gunshot, checked my body for damage; none found. Looked in my rear view mirror and saw the entire back windshield was completely cracked.
AIR BAGS (1 complaints)
AIR BAGS
1 complaintSafety-relatedAirbags failed to deploy after pre-collision system did not activate nor did the emergency breaking activate. I struck a larger SUV while traveling ~35 mph broadside and there was no assistance from the vehicle safety features. It is unknown to me if any of the components have been adequately assessed since. I am concerned that the vehicle may be resold without proper inspection and has to potential to injure other parties in the future.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (1 complaints)
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
1 complaintSafety-relatedI was heading home early in the morning on 12/13/2025 to drop a few passengers on Springfield avenue heading east in Champaign IL (the Main Street) and the other vehicle came from 5th st heading north (5th street is a side street with a stop sign at that intersection). As I approached the intersection I saw the car come forward and then come to a complete stop before the intersection I assumed to look both ways. I was 10 feet away from the intersection when the car tried to speed across the intersection and I stomped on the brakes but it wasn’t enough to stop the collision from occurring while the FCA failed to kick in. The FCA frontal collision avoidance assist did not work when a car pulled out right in front of me. Since the car pulled out in front of me at the last second on a 25mph street my car collided into the reckless driver who had a stop sign and I had the right away. The car is currently in bad condition and the radiator got destroyed at the point of impact it’s currently at a collision repair center for inspection and repair. I gave a verbal explanation to the insurance company at this time there are photos to of the frontal area from the collision. There were no warnings that went off the night of the collision the FCA just failed to kick in resulting in an accident, when its primary job is stop a frontal collision it failed to do so.
VISIBILITY (1 complaints)
VISIBILITY
1 complaintThe contact owns a 2025 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that the A/C system had become inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 30-40 MPH, the defroster failed to engage as intended, causing the windows to become foggy. The contact pulled over to the side of the road to wipe the windows. The contact stated that the failure persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be serviced because there were 25 other vehicles of the same model year that were ahead of the vehicle for the same failure. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the repair was urgently needed because the contact resided in Southern Florida, where the weather was significantly humid, causing the windows to be foggy while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that another dealer would be contacted for the repair; however, the contact had not received a call back from the manufacturer after several days. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Genesis GV70.
