BACK OVER PREVENTION

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2019-2025 Cayenne, Cayenne E-Hybrid, 2020-2025 911, Taycan, 2024-2025 Panamera, and 2025 Panamera E-Hybrid vehicles. The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence

A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the driver assistance software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 13, 2026. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is ASB2. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 19, 2026.

24V7320002024-10-01

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Taycan vehicles. The high-voltage battery may experience a short circuit within the battery module.

Consequence

A short circuit in a high-voltage battery increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will install advanced diagnostic software as the final remedy, anticipated to be available in the first quarter of 2025. Porsche will monitor available online vehicle data and contact owners as necessary, to advise them to only charge the vehicle to 80% capacity until the battery can be replaced. For vehicles in which online data is unavailable, dealers will perform a diagnostic test and replace the battery module assembly, if necessary and advise owners to only charge to 80% capacity. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 6, 2025. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Remedy

Dealers will update the headlight control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is ARB4.

Numerous electrical issues plaguing the vehicle. These issues pose a significant risk to both myself, my family and other road users. Specifically, the car intermittently fails to recognize the key, both when starting and during operation. Most alarmingly, the vehicle has demonstrated a dangerous behavior wherein it fails to detect my grip on the steering wheel, resulting in the sudden application of brakes and seizure of steering control. This will only happen when going 45mph or faster and will occur randomly regardless of where my hands are on the steering wheel or whether I'm turning or going in a straight line.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE (1 complaints)

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

1 complaint
2024-04-25

My car indicated that there was a collision imminent when there was nothing in front of me and no car within any reasonable distance ahead of me either. The car tried to apply the brakes momentarily and then stopped. This happened on the I280 Northbound Lawrence Expressway exit headed towards the stop light at the Stevens Creek Blvd junction. The ground was slightly damp, but there were no apparent objects in the road.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.

Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Porsche Taycan.

No spam. Only data updates for this model.
