VISIBILITY/WIPER

5 complaints

Owners of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport frequently report issues with windshield integrity and washer fluid leakage. Multiple complaints describe windshields cracking easily from minor impacts, with some owners noting spontaneous cracking without any apparent cause. Reports often mention these issues occurring within the first year of ownership and at low mileage, with one owner citing less than 10,000 miles. Additionally, there is a report of windshield washer fluid leaking from the reservoir when the rear window wash is activated, potentially leading to an empty reservoir and compromised visibility. Safety implications include reduced visibility due to both fluid leakage and windshield cracks, though no crashes or loss of control are reported. These issues may be of concern for used car buyers considering this model.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

4 complaints

Owners report several issues related to the electrical system of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. A recurring problem is the back-up camera malfunctioning intermittently, displaying a "cameras not available" message, which occurs unpredictably and affects parking maneuvers. Another reported issue is the vehicle failing to alert the driver when the key is not present, which could potentially lead to driving without the key. These issues are noted soon after purchase, with no specific mileage mentioned. Additionally, one complaint involving a related model describes an overheating wireless charging pad, which is recognized as a known issue by dealerships. Safety implications include the risk of accidents due to camera failures and potential key-related security risks.

STEERING

3 complaints

Owners report two main issues with the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport related to steering. The first involves the lane assist system causing unintended steering intervention, which actively pulls the vehicle toward hazards and off the roadway, posing a serious safety risk. In another issue, multiple owners describe sudden loss of power steering assist and propulsion, often accompanied by warning lights and a shift into neutral, making it difficult to control the vehicle at highway speeds. These problems are reported at low mileages, around 5,400 miles, and involve significant safety implications, including the potential for loss of control in traffic. These patterns provide useful context for prospective buyers considering the reliability of this model.

LANE DEPARTURE (2 complaints)

LANE DEPARTURE

2 complaints

Owners report that the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport experiences issues with the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Keep Assist systems, which deactivate unexpectedly, particularly at night under clear weather conditions. This pattern occurs across multiple vehicles of the same model, suggesting a potential systemic issue when driving in the dark. Additionally, there are complaints about the Blind Spot Warning system being slow to react and lacking audible alerts when the turn signal is activated, which some owners find inadequate compared to other vehicles. These reported issues could have safety implications, especially during nighttime driving or when changing lanes. No specific mileage or timelines are mentioned in the complaints, but the recurrence across different vehicles may be a consideration for potential buyers.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER (2 complaints)

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

2 complaints

Owners of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport report issues primarily related to unusual noises and powertrain problems. Complaints frequently mention a clunking metal-on-metal sound, particularly from the rear right side, during reversing, sharp turns, or braking, with the issue persisting despite multiple service visits. Additionally, owners describe brake squeaking during wet conditions, even after brake replacements. Another reported issue involves a loss of power and engine light activation, traced to the hybrid battery system, with some owners noting similar experiences in online forums. These problems are reported at low mileages, around 5,100 miles, and can involve significant service downtime. While no safety incidents such as crashes or loss of control are detailed, the described symptoms could impact vehicle reliability.

POWER TRAIN (2 complaints)

POWER TRAIN

2 complaints

Owners report issues with the power train of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, primarily involving the DC converter and the transfer case. One complaint describes the DC converter failing, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop and become immobile on a highway, with the part being out of stock for an extended period. Another complaint details a transfer case failure at 5,000 miles, which could potentially lead to loss of control if not addressed, and indicates that a service bulletin has been issued without a recall. These issues suggest potential safety risks, such as sudden vehicle stoppage and possible loss of control, which could be critical for prospective buyers to consider.

On several occasions the amber AEB Off warning light has appeared. It wasn't raining and radars + camera were clear. The warning light went away on its own within 30 seconds without restarting the car. This should be investigated as a safety system issue especially since it's occuring even though the sensors are clean and unobstructed.

SEATS

1 complaint
2026-03-211 injury

Rear seat in 2025 Range Rover Sport closed on my arm while returning to upright position, trapping me with no accessible manual release. Required assistance to be freed. Resulted in numbness and ongoing nerve/tendon pain. While parked in my driveway, I activated the electronic control to raise the left rear passenger seat from a folded position. As I reached in to remove an object (umbrella) to prevent obstruction, the seat closed on my right forearm and elbow, trapping my arm. I was unable to free myself. The seat would not move, and there was no accessible manual or emergency release within reach. The only release control was located near the rear liftgate, which I could not access while trapped. I called for help but could not be heard due to nearby landscaping equipment. A worker attempted to manually free the seat but was unsuccessful. I was ultimately freed when my husband activated the electronic release from the rear cargo area. Following the incident, my arm and fingers were numb. I continue to experience ongoing tendon and nerve pain in my forearm and elbow. Rear seat lacks an accessible emergency/manual release within reach of passenger area. Seat did not stop or reverse when encountering resistance, creating a risk of entrapment and serious injury.

Passenger side seatbelt was locked so tight during accident it cut off breathing to passenger. After several attempts, I was able to finally release the seatbelt. After the accident and passenger was out of seat, I tried to relatch the seatbelt. I tried moving the seat back to give more room to latch the seatbelt in the loose position however it still 3 to 4 inches away from latching.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.

Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
