2025 Jeep Wrangler Common Problems by Component
49 owner complaints grouped by vehicle system.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
27 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners report several issues with the 2025 Jeep Wrangler's electrical system, primarily involving unexpected stalling and loss of power during operation. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle shutting down without warning, resulting in the loss of critical systems like power steering and brakes, often after a software update. Many owners describe incidents where the vehicle becomes inoperable shortly after these updates, with some experiencing repeated failures within minutes of restarting. Additionally, a recall related to a high-voltage battery fire risk is noted, with owners unable to charge their vehicles or park them near structures due to safety concerns. These issues typically arise in vehicles with low mileage, often under 10,000 miles, and there are reports of a crash and a fire risk, highlighting significant safety implications.
POWER TRAIN
6 complaintsOwners report several powertrain issues with the 2025 Jeep Wrangler, particularly involving unexpected power loss and unintended gear shifts. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle unexpectedly shifting into park while in motion and losing all power after receiving over-the-air software updates. Typical symptoms include sudden deceleration, the appearance of multiple warning lights, and the inability to restart or move the vehicle. These issues often occur at low mileages, with some incidents reported as early as 1,300 miles. Safety implications are significant, as these failures occur without warning, potentially leading to loss of control in traffic and increasing the risk of collisions.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
4 complaintsOwners of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler report issues primarily related to dealership service and electronic system malfunctions. Complaints frequently mention delays in addressing recalls and back-ordered parts, particularly concerning the automatic emergency braking sensor and high-voltage battery. Multiple owners describe problems with the Uconnect system, including loss of acceleration after updates and audio interruptions due to the Emergency Vehicle Alert System. These issues often result in the need to restart the vehicle or require towing to a dealership. Safety implications are noted, with owners expressing concerns about increased risk due to system malfunctions, although no crashes or fires are reported.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (3 complaints)
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
3 complaintsSafety-relatedOwners of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler report issues related to vehicle speed control, primarily involving sudden acceleration and stalling. One complaint describes an incident where the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated over a curb, resulting in a crash into a metal door and concrete wall. Another issue involves the vehicle stalling on the freeway, accompanied by a message instructing the driver to put the car into park before restarting. Additionally, an over-the-air update is linked to reduced hybrid battery range and reports of the vehicle stalling or failing to start. These problems highlight potential safety risks, particularly the crash associated with unintended acceleration and the stalling incidents that can occur during driving.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM (2 complaints)
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
2 complaintsOwners report two primary issues with the 2025 Jeep Wrangler's fuel/propulsion system. First, multiple owners note a significant discrepancy between the advertised fuel efficiency and actual performance, with some experiencing a combined MPG of 13 compared to the claimed 20 MPG. Second, complaints frequently mention a loss of power during acceleration, particularly under electric power, which has led to situations where drivers are left vulnerable in oncoming traffic. These issues are described without specific mileage ranges, but the power loss during acceleration poses potential safety risks due to the possibility of being stranded in traffic.

Complaints frequently mention the vehicle entering "limp mode" due to a check engine light and a message indicating "performance limited, service fuel system," which reduces speed while driving, particularly at highway speeds. Dealers identify the problem as linked to a high-pressure fuel pump and a control module. Additionally, owners describe the hybrid system failing to communicate properly, requiring the vehicle to be completely shut off at high speeds. These issues suggest potential safety risks due to the sudden loss of power and speed control, though no specific mileage ranges are noted in these reports.
STEERING (2 complaints)
STEERING
2 complaintsOwners report that the 2025 Jeep Wrangler experiences significant electrical malfunctions that impact steering and overall drivability. Complaints frequently mention a complete loss of engine power and power steering while driving, leading to dangerous situations such as blocking intersections. Additionally, drivers describe receiving alarming dashboard messages warning of imminent vehicle shutdowns, followed by critical system failures including check engine lights, blinking gear indicators, and loss of acceleration control. These issues appear in vehicles shortly after purchase, suggesting they occur at very low mileage. The sudden loss of control and power presents a clear safety risk, particularly in traffic.
VISIBILITY/WIPER (1 complaints)
VISIBILITY/WIPER

EQUIPMENT
1 complaintWe were flat towing our Jeep Wrangler behind our RV using a new Blue Ox Avail tow bar and the right-side tow arm failed. Once the tow bar failed it was difficult to keep the Jeep within the lane behind the RV until we could find a safe place to exit the interstate and unhook. Blue Ox sent us a replacement Avail tow bar since it was under warranty, and the exact same thing happened on the first trip with the brand new replacement. The right-side tow arm failed traveling down the interstate. Two failures with two brand new units….Blue Ox Avail tow bar.

1 complaintI rented a Jeep Wrangler from Enterprise in Kingston, NY. While driving on the highway, my 12-year-old daughter pulled a lever in the passenger seat, and the roof panel detached and flew onto the road. There were no warnings, no instructions, and no disclosure from Enterprise. This posed an extreme danger to drivers. This vehicle design and rental practice presents a major public safety risk. How We Calculate Reliability Scores
Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.
Key Ranking Factors
Complaint Severity
NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.
Repair Costs
Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.
Recall Impact
Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.
Issue Diversity
Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.
Scores are grouped into four tiers:
- 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
- 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
- 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
- 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution
Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
