Owners of the 2022 Genesis G70 frequently report issues with condensation inside the headlight assemblies. Complaints often describe symptoms such as excessive moisture leading to malfunctioning turn signals and visible cracks along the seams of the headlight units. These problems typically emerge around 14,000 to 32,000 miles, with some owners experiencing repeated failures even after replacement. Safety implications include potential loss of turn signal functionality due to condensation. Buyers should be aware that multiple owners have experienced similar issues, suggesting a pattern of inadequate sealing in the headlight assemblies.

Owners report issues with the fuel/propulsion system of the 2022 Genesis G70, particularly involving the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel injectors. Complaints frequently mention symptoms such as sudden loss of engine power, stalling, sluggish acceleration, and vehicles entering "limp mode," with some reports occurring as early as under 5,000 miles and others around 46,000 miles. Safety implications are noted, with several owners experiencing dangerous situations such as loss of power in traffic, which could potentially lead to crashes. Additionally, some owners have faced difficulties in obtaining timely repairs due to parts availability, further complicating resolution of these issues. Used car buyers should be aware of these patterns and the potential for unresolved fuel system problems.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (3 complaints)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

3 complaints

Owners report issues with the electrical system of the 2022 Genesis G70, primarily involving headlight condensation and malfunctioning lights. Complaints frequently mention condensation buildup in the headlights, leading to intermittent headlight failures and non-functional daytime running lights and turn signals. In some cases, owners describe the vehicle entering limp mode, with all dashboard lights and warnings activating simultaneously, significantly reducing speed from 50 mph to around 5 mph. These issues are noted in vehicles just over two years old, and some owners express concerns about safety due to the sudden loss of lighting and vehicle control.

3 complaints total
UNKNOWN OR OTHER (3 complaints)

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

3 complaints

Owners of the 2022 Genesis G70 report several recurring issues. A common problem involves headlight cracks near the screw in the middle of the plastic, leading to headlight failure, which owners identify as a safety hazard. Another issue is a persistent warning chime and display messages such as "uneven road ahead" or "slippery road ahead," occurring every 5 to 10 seconds after maintenance, which disrupts the tachometer's function and distracts drivers. Additionally, some owners experience popping and cracking noises from the sunroof and dashboard, with one owner noting these issues began at just 150 miles, and the dealership suggests the sunroof assembly may need replacement. These problems potentially affect vehicle safety and usability, with some owners expressing concern over the possibility of sunroof failure.

FUEL SYSTEM (2 complaints)

FUEL SYSTEM

2 complaints

Owners of the 2022 Genesis G70 report issues related to the fuel system, specifically involving a failure to accelerate when the accelerator pedal is depressed and a loss of motive power, particularly when driving uphill. These symptoms are described as intermittent, with one owner noting occurrences at approximately 62,000 miles. Complaints frequently mention that despite multiple visits to dealers, the cause of the failure remains undetermined, and repairs have not been completed due to unavailable parts. Safety implications include the potential for loss of power while driving, which may affect vehicle control, particularly with passengers onboard. This information may be relevant for used car buyers considering the vehicle's reliability and the availability of recall repairs.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (1 complaints)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

1 complaint
2025-12-14

I experience a lack of power issue when driving the vehicle and attempting to accelerate past 40-60 mph. I will floor the accelerator and the car still stalls and will not accelerate. This has been terrifying when merging onto the highway and realizing this issue is occurring, as it is sporadic and not noticeable on residential/low speed drives. In the videos I've taken, you can see the engine RPM increase to approximately 4k RPM; the gear indicator continues to show "D," indicating the RPM increase was due to a throttle-induced downshift as opposed to shifting with the paddles; and the vehicle speed fails to increase as would be expected at the necessary throttle application for the RPM to be at that level. I have taken my vehicle to to the genesis service dealership at least 5 times for this issue and it is still a recurring issue. Many genesis owners complain about this issue on forums with no resolution from Genesis.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent— Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good— Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed— Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky— Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.

Get notified when new recalls or reliability data is added for the Genesis G70.
