Should You Buy the 2022 Genesis G70?
Reliability is good for this model year, but it sits below average among 2022 sedans. Within the G70 lineup it lands in the middle of eight scored years, and the 2021 and 2023 models rate about the same. Owners filed 25 complaints, about 19.8 per 10,000 sold.
Sudden power loss is the problem to take seriously. Owners describe the car dropping into limp mode in traffic with every dash light on, sometimes held to 40 mph or less. It has happened on nearly new cars and at about 46,000 miles. Dealers often cannot reproduce it. One fire-related report says the car lost power, then the engine caught fire. Headlights draw the most complaints: water inside the lens, cracks near the mounting screws, and moisture that moves to the other side after a replacement. Federal recall records list two recalls, in the fuel system and in engine and engine cooling.
Ask the seller for proof that both recalls were completed and what the work covered. Some owners say symptoms continued after the repair. Also check the headlights for fogging or cracks, since warranty coverage was sometimes denied.

2022 Genesis G70 Recall Details
2 recalls have been issued for the 2022 Genesis G70. All recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealerships.
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Consequence
A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will update engine control module software. In addition, dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning September 9, 2024. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 262 and 023G.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Genesis G80, 2017-2022 G90, and 2019-2022 G70 vehicles equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engine. The left turbocharger oil feed pipe may deteriorate and leak oil.
Consequence
An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 019G. This recall expands and replaces recall number 19V-538. Vehicles previously repaired under 19V-538 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Others were refused once cracks were found or coverage ran out. One report puts onset near 14,000 miles.

Headlights crack near the center screw and stop working. After routine dealer service, one car began chiming every 5 to 10 seconds and showing false "slippery road ahead" or "uneven road ahead" messages over the tachometer. That distraction had no fix at the time of the report.

1 complaintI experience a lack of power issue when driving the vehicle and attempting to accelerate past 40-60 mph. I will floor the accelerator and the car still stalls and will not accelerate. This has been terrifying when merging onto the highway and realizing this issue is occurring, as it is sporadic and not noticeable on residential/low speed drives. In the videos I've taken, you can see the engine RPM increase to approximately 4k RPM; the gear indicator continues to show "D," indicating the RPM increase was due to a throttle-induced downshift as opposed to shifting with the paddles; and the vehicle speed fails to increase as would be expected at the necessary throttle application for the RPM to be at that level. I have taken my vehicle to to the genesis service dealership at least 5 times for this issue and it is still a recurring issue. Many genesis owners complain about this issue on forums with no resolution from Genesis.
