Should You Buy the 2019 Chrysler 300?
The reliability standing is good, and this year beats most other 2019 sedans. Among the 300's own scored model years, though, it sits among the weaker of six. Owners filed 59 complaints, and the federal crash-test rating is 4 of 5 stars.
Air bags are the biggest worry. Owners describe waiting on a recall repair because dealers said parts for the 2019 were unavailable, in some cases for more than a year. Two crash reports describe passenger-side impacts where no air bags deployed, and two people were hurt. The Uconnect touchscreen is the other common failure. It freezes or goes dark after a failed update showing error code 20, and the backup camera, radio, navigation and climate controls go with it. A few owners report sudden power loss while driving. Some report harsh, jerky shifting as early as 7,100 miles.
Federal recall records show two recalls, covering air bags and the electrical system. Ask for proof both were completed. The 2020 rates better and the 2018 rates worse.

2019 Chrysler 300 Recall Details
2 recalls have been issued for the 2019 Chrysler 300. All recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealerships.
AIR BAGS
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.
Consequence
An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury or death.
Remedy
Dealers will replace both side curtain air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 20, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 19B.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Dodge Challenger and Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The instrument cluster may not properly illuminate driver warnings. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
Consequence
Failure of the instrument cluster to properly illuminate may prevent the driver from receiving warnings about the vehicle's systems, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy
Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. The recall began April 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V32.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

1 complaintThe forward collision warning (FCW) system does not function as designed. It is supposed to give visual and audible warnings as well as apply the brakes (if so selected). The system on my car gives the visual and audible warnings, but does not apply the brakes. I have experienced this several times since I have owned the car. I took it to the Chrysler dealer on 12/11/2020 and again on 3/28/2022 for this issue and their response both times was "there are no stored codes in the module and it is unsafe to test the system. Therefore the system is working as designed."
