3 complaints

Owners of the 2026 Nissan Rogue report issues with the vehicle's glass components, specifically windshields and rear windows. Complaints frequently mention spontaneous cracking and shattering, with one owner describing a windshield crack that developed without impact and another noting a back window that shattered while parked. A third report describes a rear windshield shattering after a loud pop when closing a front door. These incidents appear to occur shortly after purchase, with one report specifying the vehicle was bought in mid-December. While no crashes or injuries are reported, the sudden nature of glass breakage could pose a visibility and safety concern.

Owners report two distinct issues with the 2026 Nissan Rogue. One complaint describes the rear windshield spontaneously imploding while the vehicle is stationary, with no prior impact mentioned. Another complaint highlights that the rearview mirror shakes on bumpy or uneven roads, accompanied by a shimmying sensation from the rear of the vehicle. This issue is identified shortly after purchase and confirmed by a dealership, though no specific mileage is provided. No crashes or injuries are reported in connection with these complaints, but the potential for impaired visibility due to the rearview mirror issue is noted by the owner.

The software for the ProSystem is flawed. When using the "lane keeping" part of the software, the vehicle, during a curve, will go to the left or right solid or dotted line, as appropriate, and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet, then sharply turn and go to the opposite solid or dotted line and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet. The vehicle will then oscillate between the two line for up to one minute with the oscillations decreasing all the while. When driving in a straight line with either solid or dotted lines delineating the lane, the steering wheel will continues to oscillate to a minor degree. I have turned the system off and do not use it. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer, Round Rock Nissan, Georgetown, TX for repair and was told the system is working correctly and do modifications are necessary. Opinion: In my opinion, the software for the ProSystem is flawed causing the vehicle to be unsafe. The software need to be recalled, rewritten, real world tested extensively and reinstalled in all vehicles equipped with this software. This should be done immediately. I am aware of at least two other vehicles with the same issue. I was driving at night at highway speed, and I turned down the brightness of the screen using the dimmer controls on the lower left side of the dash assembly. After several presses of the button from full illumination to approximately 40%, the entire instrument panel went blank, and a loud alert sounded. I lost all instrumentation for a few seconds, and then the screen rebooted. After it rebooted back at full brightness, I tried reducing it again, and the instrument panel rebooted for a second time while on the highway.

The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after loading items into the vehicle through the front passenger’s side, the door was closed, and the contact heard a loud sound of a glass shattering. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that the rear glass had shattered. The contact immediately called the dealer, and was referred to the Collision Center, which could temporarily tape the glass until the glass was replaced. The contact stated that after the glass was taped with plastic, the plastic popped out after closing the doors. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where the window was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 800.

On 11/4/25 with only 377 miles on the odometer after backing out of my driveway I put the car into drive, nothing happened initially but then it stalled out in the road way. The vehicle displayed no warning lights and it did go into drive after that point. Vehicle has yet to be diagnosed.

How We Calculate Reliability Scores

Auto Reliability Index scores are calculated on a 0–100 scale using a weighted formula that combines multiple public data sources. Each factor is weighted based on its predictive value for real-world ownership experience.

Key Ranking Factors

1

Complaint Severity

NHTSA owner complaints weighted by component category (e.g., powertrain, safety systems, electronics, cosmetic) — safety-critical issues carry more weight than cosmetic ones. Adjusted for sales volume so high-volume models aren't unfairly penalized.

2

Repair Costs

Independent reliability ratings based on repair frequency, average repair costs, and severity of typical repairs for each model.

3

Recall Impact

Number of NHTSA recalls weighted by severity. “Stop driving” and fire-risk recalls are penalized more heavily than minor software or labeling recalls.

4

Issue Diversity

Measures how many major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, braking, etc.) have recorded complaints. A vehicle with issues spread across many systems may indicate systemic quality issues.

Scores are grouped into four tiers:

  • 80–100: Excellent — Top-tier reliability, minimal issues
  • 60–79: Good — Reliable with some minor concerns
  • 40–59: Mixed — Notable issues, research before buying
  • 0–39: Risky — Significant problems, proceed with caution

Data is sourced from NHTSA recall records, owner complaint filings, and independent repair databases. Scores are recalculated as new data becomes available. While the weighting model is proprietary, all underlying data sources are public and traceable.
